A Block Bopping Success

FYI, the Mario Bros. were a huge hit... well, at least with the teenage boys at one of the last houses Mario and Luigi visited! Those guys gave Max and Emmett three helpings of candy, saying they wanted to give all the rest of their candy to them! Not everyone knew who Mario and Luigi were, but others did. A big success.

One last one

That's-a so nice!

Here's the Bros.!

The Pointer Bros.

I have never been so excited about Halloween in my life. Well, maybe I was more excited as a kid, but I don't remember it if so. You'll be proud of us - great home made costumes (on the cheap too, thanks to Bek's hard work!) and an audio presentation to go along with it. Wow....
Best ... Halloween ... Ever
Well, I expect so, anyway. I can't wait until Tuesday! You'll get photos and probably a short video too (got to show off the sound!) after then.

First One's Free

Having played Super Mario 1-3, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, et. al. on a Super Nintendo emulator on our Mac, of course Max has found friends at school who like Mario too, and who have Nintendo GameCube's with Mario Kart DoubleDash and other Mario games. Of course Max is now asking for a GameCube too. The good news is that Nintendo is about to obsolete the GameCube by introducing their next generation system, the goofily named, "Nintendo Wii". I suppose then we might be able to pick up a used GameCube and games for cheap. Or maybe I should just tell him we aren't getting one, and leave it at that. I've got some aces up my sleeve - I haven't yet let him have access to another Mario game, Super Mario World 2, that was made for the Super Nintendo. Also there is a super nintendo mouse-based puzzle game that was only released in Japan, but is in English, called Mario and Wario.

New Title!

How do you like my new blog title (not the name, rather, how it looks)? This was done with a cool Flickr "mashup" called Spell With Flickr. Flickr is a photo sharing community website and a "mashup" is a web page that does something with some other website. In this case "Spell With Flickr" spells the text you enter by selecting random photos from Flickr that are photos of the appropriate letters. Fun stuff! Note that you can click the individual pictures to see the originals on Flickr. If and when I get a chance I might try to figure out how to get the pictures to change every time....

A Message From the Past Present (or was it Participle?)

I got an email tonight from the Iowa City Public Library. It was about a new service where they'll send you an email when the materials you checked out are about to become overdue. I have to say that it felt quite nice to get an email from Iowa City, even if it was entirely meaningless. How I wish I could say that I had materials about to be overdue to the Iowa City Public Library!
